Town rules
Triana is its own municipality, surrounded by Huntsville on land and the river on the south. Properties inside town limits follow the Town of Triana's rules; we could not confirm whether the town requires a fence permit, so ask Town Hall before building. Nearby addresses may instead be in Huntsville, which requires no fence permit, or Madison.
New subdivisions
Growth on the scale of nearly 70 percent in four years means a lot of brand-new yards. Triana students attend Madison City Schools, and new neighborhoods here tend to look and work like Madison's: covenants, architectural review and a short list of approved fence styles. Common requests are backyard privacy and vinyl fences and aluminum along ponds and common areas.
New-construction yards are often graded fill. Posts need full depth into firm soil, not just through the topsoil the builder spread.
Low ground and the river
Land near the river and the Huntsville Spring Branch can sit low, and a wet winter keeps clay saturated. That argues for ground-contact-rated or steel posts, gravel in the bottom of each hole, and a fence that does not block water moving across the yard. The Huntsville Spring Branch area is also the site of a past DDT cleanup tied to Redstone Arsenal; the EPA considers the physical cleanup complete, though the site remains on its Superfund list. If you are fencing near the water, ask the town about any restrictions.
Getting quotes
Send a request through the contact page with your subdivision or street, fence type, footage and HOA approval status. We pass it to an independent fence contractor who works southwest Madison County. Alabama 811 needs notice at least two full working days before digging.
